Colours brainstorming games

Say a colour, a category of thing or a colour plus category of a thing (by choosing a word or words from below, or with your own ideas). Go round your group brainstorming things that match that word or words with a sentence like “A strawberry is red”, “Strawberries are red” or “Red strawberries” (your teacher will tell you which). If anyone repeats a sentence that has already been used in that round, says something wrong, or pauses too long, they lose that round and can choose the category for the next round. Your teacher will tell you how long counts as pausing for too long, e.g. if you should clap three times each time and say something on the third clap, or if you can count down from ten to one if someone is pausing for too long.

Ask about any words above you don’t understand, combinations you can’t think of examples of, etc, working together to think of three examples each time.

If your teacher tells you to, do the same but this time writing the sentences or phrases.

When you finish the game, brainstorm as many colour words as you can without looking above (including two-word combinations such as “dark brown”).

Compare as a class or with the list above.
