holed is used in context of a hole in the ground. Hold is to grasp something.
hold suggest that someone else is restricting his freedom, and since it is preceded by "is", the correct form should be "held".
"holed up" is a collocative phrase, where people willingly restrict their access to the public.
I just put holed but it should really be held. don't you think????
If people are trying to remove him, he is not being held.
