Do the following sentences mean the same? I am confused whether to have an apostrophe or not.

1-John obtained a bachelor's degree from the Applied College in Kuwait.

2-John obtained a bachelor degree from the Applied College in Kuwait.

1 is correct.

Native English-speakers don’t say that.
