Choosing a winning topic

Hi! I'm not very experienced in writing, so choosing a topic for my essay or any other paper is a big challenge for me. What tips do you use to select a good topic?

What kind of essay do you want to write, and why do you need to write it?

If it's your choice what you write about then choose something you're interested in. Maybe you could choose something you'd like to learn more about.

I talk about admission essay. Should it have any specific topic or I just need to write a paper about my achievements?

Different colleges may have different requirements. I suggest that you visit the website of the college you are interested in. You'll probably find the answer to your question there.

No, I haven't chosen a college yet, I'm just trying to collect the information (for example, guides) on the personal statement and essay writing.

You can find a lot of things on this forum. Whatever it is, there are a bunch of them. (Many of the threads have comments by me in them.)
