Instructions for teachers

PLEASE SEE THE PDF FOR THE WORDS IN TABLES WITH COLOURS

Decide if you think your students can use the mixed-up words word search or if they would be better with the unmixed version, and also decide which answer sheet is more useful.

Make one copy of the answer sheet per student. You can also make one copy of the word searching sheet each, but students could also do it with one copy per table or even just with one huge version at the front of the class. Students count each colour word (e.g. count how many “red” words there are), find the word of that number (e.g. “three”) in the answer sheet, then fill in that number word with that colour (e.g. colouring in the word “three” with a red pen).

When they have finished, they could make similar word searching tasks for other groups to do the same thing with (with another copy of the same answer sheets or also making their own answer sheets). 

The last sheet below can be used to drill the colour words before starting, to practise the colour words in other ways such as touching things with the colour of the word that is held up, and/ or to be used during the activity to help students who can’t read the colour words.
