It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of Richard, also known as @Tdol.

I have no words tonight, except to say thank you Richard for everything you did with this site. UsingEnglish.com was your baby, as it is mine. You contributed your heart and soul into this site.

You were a great friend, and I will miss you. We all will miss you. 💔

Thank you Richard, for everything.

Requiescat in pace. It's Latin for "may he rest in peace" and that's why in English people write and say RIP.

UE and all of us will sorely miss Richard.

I'm very sorry to hear about Richard's passing.

@Red5 : Yourself and Richard have produced a website and community here that I've come to value highly. Thank you. 🙏

May you rest in peace, Tdol.

I still remember when I first came here, you and other nice members have helped me a lot.

My English has greatly improved because of this website and I really can't leave live without it. You truly helped someone who's really in need of professional English assistance and I'll never forget what you did to me and to this forum.

It was 2003. That seems like a long time ago, and it is. Mike is gone, and now Richard. It's a harsh reality we all have to come to come to grips with; sooner or later everybody leaves you. (My wife died in 2013.)

@Silverobama The saying is "I can't live without it." (You can get used to anything.)

Richard's contribution to setting up the site, running it and taking part in the forums hugely helped UE be what it is today. I hope he knew what an impact he had on so many people. He will be sorely missed.

Ah man. Here I was about to post about how I actually like all the black fonts and stuff until I saw Red's avatar. Now I understand the changes.

Rest easy, Tdol. It's a helluva thing you helped build here.

This is such sad and shocking news that I don’t even know what to say. I literally have no words. But I do remember how in 2007 I found this forum and I do remember reading Tdol’s answers to my questions and to the ones of other forum members.

I am deeply saddened for what happened to you😭.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I will never ever forget you Sir Richard.
