It is not an idiom because the words each have their usual meanings. But I've never seen the movie Night of the Living Dead and the words mean nothing to me.

Are you sure the original said "in the night" and not "than the night"?

Night of the Living Dead is a zombie movie, so using 'than' to make a comparison between drug addicts and a movie about reanimated dead could make sense.
