Without looking at the list below, listen to your teacher and raise one of the two cards that you have been given depending on what you think about the meanings of the phrases you hear. Don’t worry about any formality differences.

Label the phrases below with S for “The same” or D for “Different”. If there are more than two, they are all the same or all different.

Check your answers, then test each other in pairs, with the same game, or saying one which has one with the same meaning and seeing if your partner can say that thing.

 

What’s the difference?

The phrases on each line below have slightly different meanings. How do these small changes alter the meaning?
