Possessives- Coin Drawing Game
Possessive adjectives and possessive -’s
Secretly choose one of the phrases below, flip a coin and complete the sentence with the
possessive below depending on which side of the coin is top:
Heads = His
Tails = Her
Make sure your partner can’t see what you are doing.

Then draw a picture which represents the whole sentence, e.g. a picture of a boy with a
small T-shirt for “His T-shirt is small” or a girl with big ears for “Her ears are big”. If your
partner can’t guess what the picture is, circle that picture then draw the opposite with
crosses through it (a girl with a cross to show that it is “he” not “she”, a big T-shirt with a
cross through it to show that you want “small”, etc).

Do the same, this time with your partner giving the person a name when they say the
sentence:
Heads = Fred’s (= a boy)
Tails = Ann’s (= a girl)

Do the same for the pairs of possessives below, this time with a picture of yourself or a
picture of your partner each time:
Heads = My
Tails = Your

Do the same with your own ideas. Write a sentence, flip the coin, then draw someone or
something that matches that sentence and the side of the coin that came up.
