Do you say "dedicated to" or "dedicated for"

I want to make up two examples with the verb, to dedicate.

(1) There is a room dedicated to/for a computer lab.

(2) This course is dedicated to/for the study of atomic physics.

Dictionaries say that dedicate is always followed by to. However, some people say that it depends on what you are talking about.

Could someone please explain which preposition works in these sentences? Thanks.

I agree with the dictionaries.

For the first sentence say: "There is a room used as a computer lab.

I might use "dedicated to" in the second sentence.

I would use "as" in #1, if forced to choose.
