Participle clauses personalised sentence completion games

In pairs or small groups, do the activity or activities below that your teacher tells you to, each time using the same suggested sentence stems.

Participle clauses things in common

Choose a phrase from the next two pages and try to make a statement that is true for both of you, choosing another phrase if you can’ find anything in common.

Participle clauses sentence completion guessing game

On your own, fill in as many of the phrases on the next two pages as you can in ten minutes with your real experiences. Choose one of your statements and read out just the part that you wrote (not the printed part that was there before), and see if your partner can guess which sentence you put that information in.

Participle clauses bluffing game

Choose one of the sentence stems on the next two pages for your partner to use. They should complete the sentence as quickly as they can, using their imagination if they can’t think of anything true. Perhaps after asking follow-up questions, guess if that is their real experience or if they just made it up.
