Instructions for teachers
Cut up one pack of cards per class, or per group of two to four students. Get students to draw a grid with seven squares to represent the seven days on paper or on the board. Students take turns making sentences from the cards and then either drawing that thing themselves or making someone else draw it in the relevant box or boxes. Students can either make true/ sensible sentences like “My mother goes to the supermarket on Saturday” or silly sentences like “The cat goes to school on Wednesdays”.
After about ten or twenty minutes of this, you can get them to:
- describe their pictures using similar sentences
- make sentences to describe other people’s pictures
- test each other on their memories of the pictures
- continue drawing, this time after saying and/ or writing their own free choice of sentences
- make other cards for another group to do the same activity with
