Days of the Week Projects
A LESSON PLAN FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS
Students practice the names of days by surveying the class about different actions on different days, making posters, then vote on the best projects in the class.
Lesson Plan Content:
Days of the week projects
Try to think of things which are different at different days of the week for people in this class and ask them questions to check if those things are different or not. If that thing is the same for people on every day of the week, try to think of another thing that might be different on Mondays from what it is on Fridays, etc.
Suggested topics that could be different on different days of the week
- Busyness
- Cafés and restaurants
- Clothes
- Clubs
- English
- Family
- Feelings
- Food and drink
- Free time
- Friends
- Homework
- Household chores
- Money
- Pets
- Places
- Plants/ Gardening
- Rubbish/ Trash
- Sleep
- Spending time
- Sports
- Technology (Skype, computer games, surfing the internet, etc)
- Television
- Times different things are done
- Time spent doing different things
Choose the most interesting things that you found out about your classmates and make a poster about them, including things like:
- Pie charts
- Bar graphs
- Pictures
- Percentages
- Fractions (“a half”, “a quarter”, etc)
- Written descriptions
- Different colours, scripts, punctuation (“!!” etc) to make the text more interesting
After you all finish and present your posters, vote on which other group’s poster you like best, thinking about:
- Which group’s poster is easiest to understand?
- Which group’s poster has the most interesting information?
- Which group’s poster looks nicest?
