Although it's leading in the polls, "for" doesn't make sense. Does that mean that he's waiting to experience anticipation?
I presume it's learners who have learned 'wait + for' and are voting incorrectly.
FOR???? It appears many people here are not both reading and thinking.
For is incorrect. Just saying the sentence sounds awful. One will wait with anticipation or in anticipation, because one is waiting for something.
