correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds strange because you're talking aboa present situation using the future perfect which is impossible in this situation...
Maybe more common in British English, but correct in either. The future perfect emphasizes the just-aboutness of his arrival.

OK, but very clumsy sounding. British English wouldn't use 'gotten' either, which also sounds clumsy, but instead would most likely replace 'got there' with 'arrived'.
