It's used to link commands in Unix-Linux OS

In my experience, it is referred to as a 'vertical bar'. It is used in unix as the 'pipe' operator, but that isn't the name of the symbol. In other contexts it is used as and 'Or' operator, but that doesn't mean that the symbol is called 'Or'.
