"Mother, it is I" not "Mother, it is me"
"It is just me" will work or "It was me" but not "It is me"
99.99999% say 'It's me'. Anyone who says it's wrong is wrong.
A question of grammar vs. usage, isn't it? I'd never mark anybody down for this!
haven't you ever heard of the most famous line ,'it's me, not you.'
Undo the contraction and compare the difference in judgment: It is I. vs Is is me.
hello,it's me,ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And not II
It is me is the common and popular usage now. Unless you're a grammar purist, it really shouldn't matter. For exams, it's best to just play it safe and use 'It is I'.
Correct and what sounds good are two different things. "I" is correct, but it sounds pretentious, so most people use "me."

How can so many miss this simple question??? Just reverse - - "I am it."
